Shahid Hashmi, M.D.
Dr.
Hashmi graduated from King Edward Medical
College, Punjab University in Lahore, Pakistan.
During medical school he received Honors
in Clinical Surgery and Medicine, Honors
in Diseases of Eye & ENT and a medal
in Mental Diseases. He completed his internship
in General & Trauma Surgery at Mayo
Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan and Danbury
Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut. Dr. Hashmi
then went on to complete his Residency in
General Surgery at New York Medical College
and affiliated hospitals in New York, New
York. It was here that he taught as the
Clinical Instructor in General Surgery.
In 1984 he joined Victoria Surgical Associates
in Victoria, Texas and holds appointments
in many of the area hospitals. He serves
as Citizens Chief of Surgery and a member
of the Credintials Committee, Executive
Committee and Trauma Committee. At DeTar
Hospital he is a member of the Evidence
Based Medicine Committee. He is Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of International College of Surgeons and Member of Southwestern Surgical Congress. He is a member of American and Texas Medical Associations , Victoria-Goliad –Jackson County Medical Society , President of Victoria Islamic Center and past President of Victoria Sunrise Rotary Club.
